About Freya

I'm a full-time Geography tutor with over eight years of experience helping students succeed at GCSE, A-Level, 13+ Common Entrance, IB, scholarship exams, Oxbridge entrance, undergraduate support and admissions, postgraduate support and admissions. I also support undergraduate and master’s applications, personal statements, and special geography-related projects. A graduate of the University of Cambridge with a BA and MA in Geography and a Master’s in Law, I specialise in breaking down complex ideas and building students’ confidence in both human and physical geography.

I teach every exam board including: AQA, Edexcel (A and B), OCR (A and B), CIE, iGCSE, Edquas (A and B) and WJEC.

I’ve taught for over 50 leading tutoring agencies, supporting over 500 students of all ages and levels from around the world. I’ve led intensive in-person revision courses and have helped students gain entry to top schools and universities through focused, results-driven teaching. I achieved full marks in my GCSE Geography exam and A-Level coursework, and have consistently achieved top A* grades throughout my academic journey. I also represented Team UK at the International Geography Olympiad in Hong Kong—winning a bronze medal and first place in academic writing—and was awarded first place in the Geographical Association’s national essay competition.

Whether you’re aiming for solid grade improvement, academic stretch, or top university entrance, I offer personalised, exam-focused support that develops deep understanding, sharpens exam technique, and builds confidence. I’m known for being friendly and kind, but I’ll also push you to reach your full potential.

I particularly enjoy human geography and emerging topics like sustainability and global change. Outside of tutoring, I love to travel, dance, spend time with family and friends, and play with my two cats. I offer flexible scheduling and high availability to fit your needs.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed my interest in tutoring while studying Geography at the University of Cambridge. During university, I started helping other students who were aiming for Oxbridge applications, particularly with Geography admissions and interview preparation. Seeing them succeed and secure offers made me realise how powerful the right guidance can be, and that was when I decided to focus seriously on private tutoring.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you like to discuss with students.

I enjoy teaching all areas of Geography, but I particularly like working on the more challenging topics that students often struggle with, such as coasts and the carbon cycle. These topics can feel overwhelming, but I am very good at breaking them down into clear, logical steps so students understand not just what to learn, but why it works. Helping students turn difficult content into something manageable is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me.
  • Did you have any role models or a teacher who inspired you?

I was inspired by my biology teacher at school. She explained things so clearly that I always knew exactly what I was learning, why it mattered, and how I would progress. That clarity has stayed with me, and I try to bring the same approach into my own teaching so students never feel lost or unsure.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Kindness, reliability, and clear explanations are essential. A good tutor also needs to understand that every student learns differently and be able to adapt their teaching style to suit each individual. Building confidence is just as important as teaching content.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your school days.

During my A Level Philosophy course, my teacher left after Year 12 and the class was close to being cancelled. I asked if we could continue by teaching ourselves, so we split the topics between us and took turns teaching the lessons. That experience taught me independence, collaboration, and how powerful peer learning and clear explanation can be.
  • What difficulties or challenges have you faced in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges in Geography is the number of exam boards and the volume of case studies and statistics students are expected to remember. Many students feel overwhelmed by this, which is why I focus on helping them understand patterns and application rather than memorising facts in isolation.
  • Do you have a particular passion?

My biggest passion is seeing students succeed. Whether that is a clear improvement in grades, increased confidence, or securing a place at their dream university or school, those moments make teaching incredibly rewarding.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

I am a University of Cambridge Geography graduate with several years of tutoring experience, and I am constantly looking to improve what I offer. I regularly refine my resources, lesson structure, and explanations so they are clearer and more effective. My goal is not just to teach content, but to genuinely help students understand, progress, and believe in their own ability.
