About Eve
I began learning mandarin as my fourth language at the age of 11 whilst studying at an international school in Bordeaux. When returning to the UK, I continued learning mandarin in my own time for several years before I began being tutored in time for my GCSE. I achieved an A* in Mandarin GCSE, having asked my school to provide the paper. For ALevels I achieved 3 As (French, Spanish and English Language) during the pandemic years where I truly got to grips with online classes. I am entering my final year at university now, currently alongside Mandarin, I am learning Japanese and Korean also. Experiencing large in person class learning, self teaching, online classes and tutoring, I have amalgamated all my favourite and most effect methods to learn a new language, especially one as different as Mandarin!

I have a methodical approach to learning the basics of a language, covering the initial building blocks of vocabulary and grammar. An important component that keeps the language interesting and alive is learning in context. In my lessons, we will begin the class by reminding ourselves of what we have previously learnt, because repetition is key to remembering long term. We will then dissect a new text, so that we are not only enhancing our vocabulary but also understanding the way in which is it used, whilst furthering our speaking skills. Then going through the grammar points more thoroughly, answering any questions before diving into some short exercises. Keeping the mind refreshed, avoiding feeling overwhelmed and confused. I will adapt my methods to better help my student.
