It's impossible to understate how excellent Mr Robert Jones is as a history tutor. I am a second year university student in History and Robert's help has been a great boon to me over the past 11 months. He taught very clearly and patiently, identified areas which I was struggling with and tailored his lessons to suit my particular needs. His support, openness and expertise gave me so much confidence with my coursework and without a doubt that translated directly into me getting several A's on my essays this year. More than just passing assignments, I feel like I walked away from each session with him understanding the subject material far better than I did an hour earlier. Robert has been an excellent professor. We met through a friend studying history at KCL, and I had taken a growing interest in the Crusades. She recommended I direct my questions to Robert, who shared my interest and had read extensively on the subject. I was particularly interested in finding someone who could tell me about this period in history with as little bias as possible — which is extremely difficult, given the available literature on the subject and how far back in history it is. Robert was excellent at conducting his classes in an engaging manner, doing his best to draw on various sources and tie each historian's work into an all-encompassing narrative. I particularly enjoy listening to podcasts, and I felt I had the best of both worlds: listening to an excellent history podcast on the Crusades while being able to ask all the questions I wanted, with no fear of being judged for them. I highly recommend working with him. I will do so again myself.

I have been taught by Robert during my undergraduate and postgraduate degree in history, politics, and philosophy. He helped me understand and memorize course material, as well as supervised my academic work. I found him to be very patient, well-spoken, and positive—exactly what I needed to complete my degree. During my postgraduate studies, it came in handy that he's got a background in research since he could help me find innovative ways of accessing data, sources, and archives. I don't think I'd have graduated without him! I recommend him as a tutor for both younger and older students. They'd be lucky to learn from somebody this knowledgeable in all areas—his curiosity and well-rounded approach never ceased to amaze me!

Robert is a phenomenal tutor! He was my colleague at St Andrews, where we encourage students to think outside the box. Not only is he trained in history, politics, international relations, and philosophy, he combines them with flare and passion, making learning fun and effective. He's also the most eloquent person I know and always makes students feel listened to and appreciated. I would wholeheartedly recommend Robert for any secondary school or university tutoring!
