About Isobel

I'm an enthusiastic and friendly tutor, with experience tutoring History at GCSE and Oxford prep level, Maths at KS3 and GCSE level, and general essay-writing skills at all levels. My students leave our lessons notably more confident in their understanding of their subjects, and ready to succeed in their exams!

I love learning, and I enjoy nothing more than sharing this enthusiasm with my students! I studied at the University of Oxford, obtaining a first class History BA, and a Master's in Medieval History. I have taken my Graduate Diploma in Law and will be studying for the solicitor’s qualification (the Legal Practice Course) from September 2024.

My qualifications have made me highly skilled at quickly adapting to and understanding new content. I can grasp a solid understanding of your curriculum, and adapt to your learning needs to help you achieve the best results.

I am particularly interested in Medieval History, but I have 8+ years experience of Modern and Early-Modern History, particularly in both World Wars and the Cold War, and 5+ years experience of English Literature. I am also a skilled proof-reader and essay marker, able to help with general writing skills if needed.

About the lesson

I’m offering tutoring sessions for 11+/13+ and other school entrance exams. I personally sat and passed the 11+ and can bring first-hand knowledge of the approach needed to succeed in these tests.

My favourite part of tutoring is getting to know each individual student and understanding how they learn best. From the start of our first lesson, I work with students to establish clear goals and the steps we’re going to take to achieve them!

I will come to our lessons prepared to work through the content your child will need to succeed, with tailored materials to address their areas of difficulty and concern. My tutoring fee includes marking work between our sessions, so that we can spend our time learning in the most effective way!

My typical tutoring sessions last between 40 minutes and one hour, but I’m happy to adapt to suit the needs of each student.

I can travel to you if you're anywhere within London, and if not I offer online classes.
