About Trent
I have tutored off and on for 9 years now. Nothing makes me happier than facilitating and understanding and love of the humanities in my students. I believe the difficulty many otherwise successful students have in subjects like history, sociology, civics, and geography can be explained by the emphasis on memorization in how these subjects are taught. My method is focused on using a holistic, narrative driven approach so that students learn how to think about these subjects in a way that fosters academic success.
I have tutored political science and history to both large and small groups as well as individuals at the university level. I also spent multiple years working in the United States House of Representatives as an aide to a member. I have a bachelors degree in History and was set to attend graduate school to begin a career in academia before the history job market collapsed and I changed fields. Teaching is my first love however and will always be a part of my life.

I ask a series of questions: What subject do you excel in? What has been your background in this subject? What aspects of this subject are difficult for you?
I have found that these three questions are very useful for determining the students best learning style and understanding how to best approach the subject with them.
