About Ashley
I have 2 years of experience teaching Math, Mandarin, and English as a volunteer at various centers and schools, such as a local school in Hangzhou, China, and a center in Hong Kong for Primary school students. Although I am a Grade 11 student, that makes me better suited to connect with children and build strong relationships. In my experience, I've taught younger kids between ages 5-9, subjects from English to Math to Mandarin. I am a visual learner so when explaining topics to younger kids, I try to use objects or images to help. Especially in topics such as Math, I like using real-world examples. This makes it easier for kids to understand a complex topic. For languages, I like making flashcards as they seem to be more effective for teaching vocabulary, and help improve speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
