About Savannah
I'm from rural America and attended schools that could not provide adequate support to their students. One of these schools went so far as to segregate disabled students by teaching their classes in the boiler room. I moved to the UK to study archaeology, and I was commended on my attention to detail, grammar, and editing. Unfortunately, by the time I graduated, my health conditions were too severe for me to work at excavations. I found that there were countless jobs in my town for learning support assistants, and I was confident that my lived experience would make me great for the role. I have worked in this position since spring of 2023, and I've found it to be very healing to support disabled people in the way that I never had been. I have worked both with students who do and do not have EHCPs. My students are 16-25 and range from E1 to L3 academically, and I fully understand that neurodivergent people are much more likely to have a spiky skill set. The more I've learnt about the system around SEND, the more I see that people in marginalised communities are much less likely to get the support they need--and the cost to pay for that support is simply extortionate. I hope that I can make some amount of difference by providing my professional experience at a much more reasonable cost.

I completed my master's in archaeology, and I currently work with high needs students who have severe learning difficulties, SEMH, and significant behavioural concerns. I work with learners of all educational levels and adjust each lesson to their individual needs. I am highly flexible and adaptive in my teaching method, and I work hard to ensure that I accommodate my students. I myself am disabled and neurodivergent, so I never view disabled people as something to shy away from. I also understand that there is a significant gap for marginalised communities to get the acknowledgement, diagnosis, and support that is crucial for an individual's well-being. Topics I cover include: - All aspects of maths and English from E2 to L3 - Proofreading essays; I can teach you to proofread or proofread for you - CV writing - American history - Classics - Latin - I am also happy to support students with building skills such as independence, memory, problem solving, concentration, etc. We will spend our first lesson getting to know each other and assessing where to begin the tutoring. I will regularly check in with your progress to ensure that this is in line with your needs. I'm happy to work with materials you provide or to bring some of my own. I'm willing to discuss my rate if there are extenuating circumstances.

Savannah is an clever and articulate individual, who writes articles and answers questions on a variety of topics. Though I don't know her in her capacity as English tutor, anyone can tell she's a postgraduate in Humanities, because she's able to explain just about anything (psychology, archaeology, allergies) in terms that are easy to follow. She's also a good communicator face to face, compelling and to the point. Being a non-native speaker of English myself, I am picky about grammar and style and yet I notice that in group sessions, Savannah can always adapt to the level of understanding others have, without compromising in accuracy. I am confident she can see anyone through their learning journey, having seen how she can present information for people of massively different abilities and because of her long-term commitment to and her experience in Send.
I’ve known Savannah since university and they have always been a hard worker, putting all their effort into everything they do. They are smart and accessible which is usually not found with most teachers. Definitely worth it!
