About Mena

My Brazilian Samba journey started 6 years ago and since I have paraded in Rio, taken lessons in Salvador Bahia along with Ile Aye, taught adults and children, competed for both male and female Samba styles here in the US and continue learning each day. Knowing the history of a dance form is crucial in respecting the culture from which it derives.

About the lesson

My Brazilian Samba journey started 6 years ago and I have paraded in Rio at the famous Sambadrome, taken lessons in Salvador Bahia and with Ile Aye, competed for both male and female Samba styles here in the US and continue learning each day. I am Colorado Samba Queen 2025 and love to share my love of dance with others. To me, knowing the history of a dance is crucial in respecting the culture from which it derives. I like to keep the lessons fun and memorable. Lessons can be held online or in person at a dance studio ( additional cost to rent studio space). Let's Samba!

Olha! Mena is a warm, attentive, and down-to-earth teacher, mentor, and tutor! I’ve been learning from them since the beginning of 2026 and have had all great virtual and in-person trainings. Each class I am further educated on the culture, technique, and full-body experience of Brazilian samba and orixá dance/performance.
Obrigada!
