About Vanessa
I graduated with a honours Masters in Marine Biology and Oceanography at Bangor University in 2013.
I am happy to talk about anything Biology related, especially Marine. Just let me know your background knowledge and interests and I will tailor a course for you.
We can cover anything from:
the evolution of our ecosystem, ocean currents, all its inhabitants from bacteria to whales, their ecology and economic value. As well as our effect on them.
I always loved helping and explaining issues to friends and peers during school as well as university.
My main focus during my bachelor was seaweed and micro algal biology, physiology and ecology. Their positive effect on the environment, their nutritional benefits for us, their cleaning abilities as well as being a source of sustainable energy. They will play a key role in future aquaculture, I am happy to give advice and examples about methods of easily incorporating algae in an already existing aquaculture or by its own. I'm also happy to talk about wildharvesting seaweed along the Irish and UK coast and how to incorporate these antioxidant rich superfoods in your diet.
For the last 3 years I offered rocky shore tidal exploration tours, which were a great success. Children loved exploring and adults where surprised by how much there was to discover.
