About Ai

Hello! I'm Ai, a native Japanese tutor based in Malaysia. I lived in Tokyo for over 10 years, where I worked in sales and marketing for a travel company before moving into teaching.

I love traveling — I've visited over 30 countries and all 47 prefectures of Japan. Outside of travel, I enjoy hiking, and I have a passion for architecture and art, so I'm always drawn to the unique design of temples, buildings, and museums wherever I go. I don't just focus on the language itself, but also share real insights into Japanese culture and everyday life.

I started teaching Japanese in 2024, both online and in person, primarily for beginner to intermediate learners. I always aim to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where you feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes.
Whether you discovered Japanese through travel, want to build a solid foundation in the language, or are planning a trip to Japan — you're very welcome here. Let's enjoy learning Japanese together!

About the lesson

My lessons are conversation-based and beginner-friendly, designed to help you build confidence speaking Japanese from day one.

For beginners, I use the Genki textbook alongside visual materials to explain grammar clearly and practice speaking step by step — always focusing on how Japanese is actually used in real, everyday situations.
Lessons are conducted mainly in Japanese, but I'm happy to support you in English whenever needed, so complete beginners are very welcome.
If you're planning a trip to Japan, we can also work on practical travel expressions and cultural tips to help you feel confident and comfortable during your stay.

I always tailor lessons to your level, goals, and pace — so you can learn steadily and enjoyably.
Even if you're starting from zero, you can make real progress quickly. One of my students went from complete beginner to talking about himself using verbs in just 8 sessions!
