About Sarah

With more than 6 years of experience in evening tutoring, private lessons and group tutorials at university, I have learned to be supportive with the students and rigorous with the field taught.

I graduated with a master's degree in Applied and Quantitative Economcics from the Paris School of Economics. I am particularly comfortable in mathematics, a field I see as gymnastics for the mind, that I like to learn and teach.

My undergraduate studies consisted in a high level 2 years course in Mathematics, Geopolitics and foreign languages to prepare for an entry exam in the best business schools. I was admitted to ESSEC and ESCP, respectively ranked 2nd and 3rd business school in France. This experience taught me a lot, not only in the fields I studied but also about rigor and evolving in a demanding competitive environment.

Today I am questioning the meaning and social impact of the jobs my studies prepared me for. I am taking time to think and currently devote myself to manual works: artisanal ceramics, growing, harvesting and processing of fruits and plants, constitution of local distribution channels, etc.

About the lesson

My priority is to clarify what is unclear in the student's head in order to restore serenity and confidence in his abilities.

The session begins with a review of the fundamental concepts and the questions regarding the lesson. Then we move on to application exercises, from the simplest to the most complex as the learning progresses and depending on the level.
Beyond the methods for solving exercises, I insist on the structure of the reasoning which allows to progress consistently.

I usually do not provide additional exercises while the exercises from school are not mastered, except special request from the student. If needed, I can provide alternative exercises, or standard subjects in preparation for exams and (French) competitions.

I do not give ready-made cheat-sheets: both the method sheets and the lesson sheets are personal, they can be written by the student alone or with my support if needed.

I only teach by webcam with a graphic tablet, that allows me to show in real time what I am writing using screen sharing, and also to send our work at the end of the session.

I am available all week long, both during the day andthe evening. My timetable is flexible; if I am seeing you regularly it is possible to schedule a class at the last minute.
