About Merissa
In 2013, I began a spiritual journey by volunteering my services working with children, for six
months, in Ghana, South Africa and Nepal. It was my experience in Nepal that dramatically
changed my life and my practice. I fell in love with the country, the people and Tibetan
Buddhism. The experience affected me so much that I returned in 2015 and completed the
November course at Kopan Monastery. There, I dove deeply into the discipline of self
awareness/realization and the practise of loving kindness. While I had been practising yoga in
some form for several years, the time at Kopan made me fully aware of the importance of a
daily practise of yoga and silence. When I came back to Canada, the only place I could find this
deep silence and awareness was on my mat. Yoga became a regular and essential part of my
life. I found myself wanting to learn more and develop my practice. That desire took me to
Guatemala where, in 2016, I completed a 200 hour course and attained Certification as
an instructor in Classical Hatha Yoga. As I depend my practice as a yoga instructor I soon realized the value of kids yoga, eager for more knowledge I completed a 40 hour set of courses and attained my Certificate of completion in Teaching Kids Yoga. I find peace, calm, focus and physical strength through
my yoga practise and hope to assist others to do the same.

My classes are recommended for all levels.
Classes can include a wide range of movements and postures that stretch, strengthen, align and stimulate all systems of the body. This practice is a great compliment to any form of physical activity, for those who wish to maintain and deepen their existing yoga practice and for those who are new to yoga.
My kids classes are creative, fun and can be customized to meet your needs.
My goal is to help your kids discover: MINDFULNESS, STRESS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES, SELF CONFIDENCE, STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY and BODY AWARENESS.
