About Amy

I used to teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate financial accounting and Federal Income Tax. I have tutored high school math, including calculus and statistics, for over ten years. All the students did very well in their exams. I have a doctoral degree and taught college economics (macro, micro, econometrics, statistics, international trade and finance) and accounting (financial accounting and tax, but right now, I am only interested in teaching tax) for over ten years.

About the lesson

High school math: I will go through the theory, work on a few examples, make sure the student has a good understanding of the theory, pick a problem, walk through the thinking process for solving the problem, then ask the student to solve it. Typically, I will work with the students on a few problems to ensure everything is clear. I will also point out common mistakes and tell the student how to develop good habits to avoid making some of these mistakes. In short: I teach students how to think. Undergraduate economics: I use a lot of real-world examples to teach students how to think like an economist.

I only teach online. You must have a computer. If you have Zoom, you could be the host and send me the link; if not, we can use Google Docs with Google Meet. In my experience, most students need 1-2 hours a week. My last student was an IB student and I tutored him on math, economics, and writing a research paper. I tutor him for about 5 hours a week, and he is now at LSE!
