About Karen
I am a professional teacher with 25 years experience teaching high school and seven years teaching adult basic education. In addition to science and SAT prep, I taught in a highly successful remedial reading program for high school freshmen. Our students came in reading at least two years below grade level, but many of them were reading seven or eight years below grade level. It was common for students to catch up from two to six grade levels in one academic year.

I love students who just don't get it. I know that my students will always get catch on and understand, if not today then soon. I explain but I don't lecture and I give students extensive supervised practice where they and get help for mistakes and misconceptions right away. One of my adult basic math students told me I was the most patient teacher she had ever met.

I charge for a lesson that is cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. That said, I can make an exception for exceptional circumstances if I am notified.
