About Laurel
I have taught all varieties of high school and college-level math for 13 years and have honed my skills in preparing students for the AP Calculus test. For the last 5 years, my AB and BC students have averaged scores almost double that of the global average. I can teach you to not only understand, but to appreciate and to see the interconnectedness of math content to a depth that can prepare you to utilize your knowledge in a variety of scenarios and fields.

I believe that it is my job to facilitate learning and guide a student to own their knowledge through strategic questioning. I will ask my student what they are working on, to explain to me what they understand, and then ask questions to identify depth of understanding as well as misconceptions. If needed, I can provide practice for any topic, or we can work through the student's assignment together with me asking questions and guiding students to complete the assignment as independently as possible. If I guide you through every problem, then you are not prepared to be assessed over the content. The goal is to be ready to show your knowledge to your teacher or professor. I will prepare you to do that.
