About Anise

I am a first-year student at Monash University currently studying an Arts Degree Majoring in Psychology and Minoring in Philosophy and I am planning to continue on to my honors and master's in Psychology to become a clinical psychologist.

I graduated from Mentone Girls Secondary College in 2025 with an ATAR of 93. I was one of the highest performing students in my cohort and also was awarded Dux of business management with a study score of 45. I studied literature, psychology, math methods, biology, and business management in high school and got above 36 study scores in all subjects including two 40+ study scores.

I have 50+ hours experience as an English tutor and I am currently completing a unit of University level classic literature.

About the lesson

I have 50+ hours experience as an English tutor and I am currently completing a unit of University level classic literature.

I typically run one-on-one tutor sessions with students that last 60 minutes. I will be in contact with students before the initial session so I am up to date with current materials they are studying. An initial session is normally comprised of me getting a gauge for the student's writing style by reading a draft or a piece of work and then having a light discussion about the text and also themselves. I believe I must have a strong relationship with my students especially since working one on one can be nerve-racking and English can feel vulnerable at times.

I try and teach English in a way that makes it fun and engaging, oftentimes students feel overwhelmed and like there is no room for creativity when there absolutely is, it all comes down to applying your ideas correctly. English and literature all come back to why themes and values are still relevant today: one of the biggest questions I always ask my students to consider when studying a text.

I am currently only tutoring VCE English but I would be open for years 7-10 as well.

I hold a valid Working with Children's Check and have my license so I will travel up to 15 minutes from Parkdale at no extra cost. Distances further than 15 minutes will incur a small travel fee to cover time and fuel costs. I also offer the option for sessions over Zoom or Google Meet.
