About Tessa
I am a dedicated and native speaking English student who is enthusiastic about teaching others about phonics, grammar, creative writing and general linguistics. I love baking, writing and reading and history and have 12 years of experience teaching other students about english as a long time lover of the subject.

My approach to teaching can best be described as a student-centered, rigorous yet flexible Montessori-inspired style that encourages an empowering, self-motivated, and fun method of learning that feels comfortably challenging and curiosity inspiring. This is done through explanation, practice, example providing, and frequent feedback exchanging between student and tutor.
A typical lesson structure resembles something like a descriptive explanation of the lesson's subject(s), followed by an overview of all the topics that will be covered in the lesson, then an in-depth teaching of each module of the lesson. Regular check-ins will be made with the student to ensure understanding and allow for any questions to be made. Critical thinking and open-mindedness is encouraged as long as it is relevant and useful to the lesson's subject matter and the student's learning progression.
