About Fred
I have been a writer and writing teacher all my life, teaching in college and high school classrooms in New England.
In summer schools, I have taught creative writing to middle school students, both in the US and in China.
I've always enjoyed working with middle and high school students, not only in classroom and one-on-one tutoring sessions, but also as a kayaking, rock climbing, and cross-country coach.

I provide a wide variety of services for writers tasked with creating a successful analytical or research essay, including practical instruction in brainstorming, creating a thesis, determining scope and structure, providing and formatting evidence in the form of quotations, and composing an effective and impactful conclusion.
I can provide targeted instruction in grammar and introduce effective self-editing skills for developing writers and help intermediate writers reach the next level by demystifying topics like flow, tone, and voice.
My students appreciate my deep investment in their work and the exercises and practical advice I provide to help them make measurable improvements.
