About Carla
I'm a Welsh-Italian writer and tutor specialising in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have an BA and an MA from Goldsmiths, University of London. My lessons are creative and student-centred. I like to create space for my students to surprise themselves (and me!)
Since 2016, I have tutored students from primary level through to adult learners. From 2012-2016 I was a Workshop Leader at The Ministry of Stories and a Student Ambassador at Goldsmiths. I also read for The White Review journal.
From 2016-2020 I lead a poetry class for adults at a library in Wales.
I now tutor both freelance and at a college.
My writing has appeared in The Times Literary Supplement, Wales Arts Review, 3:AM, The New Welsh Review, Lonely Crowd, The Moth and elsewhere. I am currently working on my first novel.

Humour and spontaneity are intrinsic to my lessons. It's important for my students to feel able to take risks with their writing and broaden their independent reading. These values are reflected in the texts I select for my lessons. I work to develop their self-confidence and ability to write intelligently and imaginatively about and/or in a variety of genres.
