About Jonathan
I enjoy a relaxed and fun environment in my lessons. Rather than push my students, I prefer to help them discover what inspires them as an independent and natural form of motivation for practice. Of course if it's a push that you want, I could provide that, too.
I want to guide my students to become inquisitive musicians who think for themselves, rather than be guitarists who strictly follow the rulebook. I'm a very patient person. I enjoy seeing students grow by doing what they love and develop their own voice on an instrument. This was how my teacher taught me, I now find myself still constantly expanding and learning on the guitar and bass. I would like to provide the same service for my students.

- I enjoy teaching by starting with music sheets, but then challenging students to be creative and interpret music for themselves. The goal is to guide students to become self-sufficient and independent musicians, instead of being guitarists who can follow a book.
-Typically lessons I have taught last 45 minutes, but happy to amend this according to the student's age or ability to focus.
- I have 2 years of teaching experience at the School of Music Montreal and private lessons. I have a grade 7 in vocals and grade 5 for music theory with ABRSM. I also have experience working in a recording studio. Moreover, I have worked at YMCA summer camp and Kids4kids foundation, so I really know how to deal with children!
- I speak English and cantonese - happy to teach in both languages.
- My past lessons have tended to be children aged 7-10, but I welcome all ages and any level!
