About Martina
I am a Hispanic and English philologist holding an MA in English Studies: Linguistic, Literary, and Sociocultural Perspectives from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. My area of expertise is Victorian and Romantic Gothic literature, which I explored in depth through both my undergraduate and master’s dissertations. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or Gothic short stories such as “The Phantom Coach” or “The Captain of the Polestar” are only a few examples of the type of literature that inspires my lessons. However, I am willing to adapt to different circumstances and texts.

My approach to tutoring is based on curiosity, discussion, and critical thinking. I encourage students to connect emotionally and intellectually with the texts we study, guiding them to interpret meaning, identify patterns, and reflect on the historical and cultural context. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and combines discussion with guided reading and short written or reflective exercises. I adapt each session to the student’s needs, whether they’re studying literature academically, preparing for exams, or simply reading for pleasure. My lessons are designed for literature enthusiasts, university students, or anyone who wishes to read, analyse, and enjoy classic texts in a thoughtful and engaging way.
