About Isabelle

I am a qualified teacher in languages, with a long experience in teaching in a secondary school in Camden, London. I have a very keen interest in nutrition and I wanted to move to teach cooking because it is what I am most passionate about. I currently teach a healthy and nurturing class to cancer patients and their carers with the Sara Lee trust, because I believe food can really support people through illness. I am involved with food projects in Hastings and Bexhill against food poverty in particular. I am also a Nutrition Advisor (FutureFit) and can help people with maintaining or reaching a healthy weight with the bonus of knowing how to cook and make good decisions in the kitchen. I hold a Culinary Skills award from Hospitality House in London. Food brings joy and is a powerful way to well-being because we are what we eat and also because it can bring people together.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is to demonstrate a recipe and encourage learners to become independent and creative - I believe that recipes are designed to serve people rather than the other way around.
The ambiance in my classes is often like a party where students learn a great deal whilst feeling they can bring and explore their own ideas safely. In leaving the class my students have often felt empowered and keen to discover more about cooking independently with their new acquired skills.

Passionate about cooking healthy food and sharing skills and knowledge, I am curious about traditional but also new healthy recipes. I have an eclectic interest for cuisines from around the world. like to explore new trends and believe in following the seasons.

Teaching and learning is a lifelong process, and I see my role more as an enthusiastic and caring facilitator, hoping to help participants discover and develop their own abilities in a safe, creative, friendly and encouraging environment. Doing so by exploring, experimenting and adapting recipes is key to give access for people’s different dietary needs such as gluten free, diabetic, vegetarian, vegan for example.

I believe that healthy nutrition and delicious food can support going through illnesses and recovery from treatments, it brings people together, help keeping healthy and healing both physically and emotionally.

All classes will be online until events can be safely organised in Public places.
Online classes with a group can also be organised and negotiated at a preferential rate.
Discount available for introducing a friend to join your class

When physical lessons can resume and take place in a public setting like a community hall kitchen, group teaching could be arranged and negotiated.
