About Heather

Dr. Whaley has a B.A. in Biology, Concentration in Medicine, Minor in Chemistry from UNCW, a B.S. in Human Anatomy and Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University. Post-doctoral certification in acupuncture- International Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Dr. Whaley is a veteran educator having taught Honors and AP Biology, Honors Chemistry and Honors Environmental Science at the high school level (public school) and was an adjunct Professor at a local college teaching both Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. She is a retired Chiropractor and enjoys sharing her knowledge with her students so that they may succeed.

Dr. Whaley also offers educational consulting, guidance, and career planning with an emphasis on STEM.

About the lesson

I use a variety of teaching methods to stimulate learning, increase understanding and confidence. I can offer assistance as a tutor to work alongside a class you are currently taking or I can design, plan and teach you a course in its entirety culminating in a certificate of completion upon successfully finishing all of the course objectives. I have a variety of engaging PowerPoint presentations, worksheets and assessments.

I am able to assist middle and high school students as well as college level students in the sciences and math. A partial list is: all middle school science and math, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry. This first lesson offered with Heather will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

My hourly rate is actually a sliding scale based on method of delivery, hours needed per week, level of subjects(s), and tutoring vs. teaching an entire course. I will attempt to provide all materials necessary and 99% of the time there is no additional fees involved for materials. The travel fee will be adjusted based on distance, but most of the time it is $10.
