About Saheel

Hello, I am Saheel Siyam. I am an incoming first year student to the University of Waterloo's Computer Engineering program. While I may be young, I have years of experience as a tutor, having been a peer tutor in high school for the past two years, and having been President of the Peer Tutoring team there for my final year of high school. I tutor in STEM subjects for middle school and high school, particularly in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. I also can tutor Computer Engineering (TEJ2/3/4M) and Computer Networking (TEN3/4M) courses for those who require these specialized disciplines. I look forward to getting to know you and your strengths and weaknesses, so we can work together to help you overcome your difficulties in your subject matter.

About the lesson

I have prior tutoring experience as a former Co-President of my high school peer tutoring team, and over the years of tutoring, I have developed a unique methodology that favours each student's unique strengths and weaknesses.

They say the Tortoise won the race against the Hare, and that is how I prefer teaching. Without further ado, a standard plan below, based on 7 60 minute sessions geared towards middle school students and high school students

1. Session 1: Gather information from the student, what subjects/concepts they are struggling with
2. Session 2: Benchmark testing in those concepts, to gauge the level of difficulty they endure
3. Session 3: Review the absolute basics of those concepts with the student
4. Sessions 4-6: Go into a deeper level with the students, covering all bases
5. Session 7: Help the student develop a plan so they can avoid falling into bad study habits, and can avoid falling into desperation about subjects again.

My goal as a tutor is to ensure that my students become independent and develop good study habits to avoid needing tutoring in the future.
