About Victor

I am a graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Warwick. Having done Economics at GCSE, A Level and at university, I find it is, though challenging, a wonderful discipline. Using fascinating theory, sophisticated diagrams and crunchy analysis, Economics allows us to build strong arguments for and against critical issues, as well as drawing conclusions – be that globalisation and protectionism, tackling unemployment or government intervention to correct market failures.

Having been through the education and examination process myself, as well as having tutored well over 600 hours of Economics A Level and GCSE, including almost all examination boards (Edexcel A, AQA, OCR, CIE, EDUQAS, WJEC), I have a thorough understanding of what is required by the current A Level and GCSE specifications to achieve top marks. Economics is about understanding key concepts, allowing you to explore opposing arguments and lines of analysis and evaluation, which ultimately brings both enjoyment of the subject and top marks.

I have over three years of private tutoring experience, achieved an A* at A Level economics and 11A*s at GCSE.

About the lesson

I am committed to providing lessons of the highest quality, and will spend 30 minutes to an hour preparing for our meetings. I believe that a balance must be achieved between a concrete understanding of content, and the ability to structure answers, mainly analysis and evaluation, to do well in your exam.

I want to adapt my lessons to your needs – whether you would like a full review of work you did last year, supplementary lessons that consolidate new content, or revision that prepares you for exams quickly but thoroughly. Patience is crucial, and I will ensure that the pace is just right for you.

I am keen to share with you all my experience and knowledge acquired from school and university – be that revision guides and notes I have collated, recommendations for resources and tips for revision.

What content or question you want to go over is up to you! We will spend time discussing difficult concepts, making sure your understanding of what is required is secure. We will also do past questions, refining exam technique, and I will provide model answers and mark schemes so that you get the most out of practising questions.

Ultimately, learning is about developing an interest for what you do. Exam results are important, but it is difficult to progress if there is no satisfaction from your studies – likewise, it is difficult to enjoy the subject if you find it difficult – it is my job to help you with both!

Lessons are typically an hour long, but 1.5 and 2 hour long sessions are also possible.
