About Andrew

I really enjoy helping people understand mathematical and scientific concepts that can enable them to connect to the world and universe better. Side effects include high marks ;). I tutor because whenever I teach someone, I learn a lot myself! Another reason I tutor is because I'm looking to team up with people who want to apply their skills (including what you learn from me!) to create new realities in the world. I have many ideas that I want to turn into valuable products! If that sort of thing interests you, let me know and I can share my ideas with you. You never know, we might just change the world together!

In terms of my experience, I have tutored secondary and primary students in mathematics and physics, including year 12 VCE, over the course of two years. I also tutored one fellow university student in physics for one semester while I was an undergraduate. I have extensive experience doing maths and physics for university courses as well as my own personal projects. Recently (earlier in 2019) I finished a PhD in astrophysics. I can tell you about my thesis if you're interested! Lastly, I know quite a bit of Python (the computer programming language), so I can teach you that sort of thing too if you're keen!

About the lesson

I don't use any specific structure for each lesson. I approach each student as a unique individual and try to cater to their particular needs. Most of the time the problems a student has with their work is the approach they use (or don't use), not the specific content of the assignment. I have a number of techniques that can help you approach a wide range of problems. This way, you can learn to be a good problem solver in general!

All I ask is that you compensate me based on how satisfied you are with the results you get from me (I don't charge a fixed hourly rate, unless you prefer it). This way, I know how well I've assisted you, and you can weigh the benefit of interacting with me against the personal cost to you. I want our interactions to be meaningful! The $50 per hour is only indicative, but you can pay me whatever you feel is right.
