About Shania
I am an avid lover of music. While I have a love for all genres, I especially have a soft spot for jazz, soul, r&b, pop, reggae, and soca, as those have defined my upbringing. I have had 8 years of experience playing the steel drums in various contexts - a small steel drum band, a sizable college jazz orchestra, and independently for my own personal pursuits. I also minored in music in college, and have been playing piano + other percussive instruments for the past 10 years. With a colorful background, I have quite a few approaches to understanding and teaching music!

Join me for engaging lessons into the world of steel drums! As an avid lover of music and percussionist who has been playing the steel drums for ~eight years, I would love to share with you my love for steel drums from technical basics to its deeper theoretical foundations. I have played in various contexts - from a small steel drum group of steel drum enthusiasts to a diverse college jazz orchestra - and therefore have lots of different approaches to understanding and teaching music! Outside of this, I also play the piano, ukulele and sing,, and am happy to incorporate these different elements into our lessons. Above all else, I love having a good time and making music - if you agree, feel free to join me!
