About Kathleen
I am a 2021 graduate of Brevard College with a Bachelor of Arts in music and a minor in history. I have nine years of experience with classical voice training, beginning my journey when I was in high school.
While in college, I was a successful music theory, music literature, and music history tutor for the entire department. I studied four levels of music theory ranging from Baroque to 20th Century styles. I also studied a brief overview of music history ranging from Ancient to 20th Century music. After my initial introduction to music history, I dived deeper into Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music history, focusing on Guillaume de Machaut for my senior capstone.
Students who came to me had significant changes in their grades, oftentimes moving from C's to A's, and gained confidence in their abilities. I have briefly taught some vocal lessons and helped vocally tune my peers, and I am looking to expand my teaching audience.

I am most comfortable teaching enthusiastic, motivated middle and high schoolers who would like to explore classical voice, the history of Western music, and students who wish to become better sight-readers!
As an instructor and tutor, I often implement lectures after I learn what prior knowledge a student has. However, I also utilize journaling, demonstrating, and experiential learning to help my students gain and retain knowledge.

Details
As I am unavailable to travel to student homes and host lessons in my home, for now, I am only charging $25 dollars for hour lessons. The first lesson with me is always free, as I use my first lesson to get to know the student and what they want to accomplish.
Cancellation Policy: If a student is unable to attend a lesson, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Due to my busy schedule outside of tutoring, I need to know of any cancellations as soon as possible. If a student cancels outside of the cancellation period, I will charge 50% of the original hour lesson (i.e. $12.50). This does not apply to the first lesson as it is free.
No Show Policy: Should a student simply not show for their lesson, they will be charged for the full hour and not receive a refund.
