About Elsa
Growing up as the daughter of an elementary school teacher not only inspired me to love learning, but to love the process of education. I have seen so many little eyes light up at the prospect of exploring the unknown over the years, and have deeply appreciated the curiosity my mother's "teacher heart" has brought to her children. However, I also know firsthand what it's like to hate school. I know how frustrating and panic-inducing it can be to face an environment you aren't comfortable in. However, I believe that by preparing and showing up for ourselves--even when it is difficult--is one of the only ways to successfully push through the discomfort. I'm incredibly excited to offer a space for students to find guidance and support while navigating the challenges of learning.

In my current professional role and many previous positions, I have worked with students with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to support their journey. Mentoring has always been an important part of my identity, and I found a wonderful outlet in this capacity. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be a student aide for several special needs classes and have offered tutoring for peers in subjects ranging from American Sign Language to neuroscience. My approach tends to be playful, encouraging, and challenging. I pride myself on building strong connections with my students, allowing them to feel comfortable in the learning process. I find that this relationship, coupled with redirection strategies when needed, creates an environment where people feel comfortable pushing themselves and opening themselves up to accepting help.
