About LaRainna
Hey! My name is LaRainna Curtis, I am 16 years old, but that doesn't mean I don't have any tutor experience. I prefer to teach elementary students to middle school students as I like to share my own knowledge in the reading and math fields, sometimes even writing if asked. I'm a high-schooler, so I have 3 years of experience of teaching students as of my junior year.

These lessons are from elementary to middle school students, as my lessons typically focus on number sense (fractions, decimals, and operations) and word problem structures in the math department, and for my reading department, I usually target metacognitive strategies (summarizing, questioning) and academic vocabulary. To help students learn these skills, I mostly use fraction tiles, number lines, and diagrams since visualizing problems helps students transition from basic arithmetic to abstract math concepts. For reading, I have students read a paragraph and then summarize the main idea in 10-15 words. This prevents them from getting lost in longer, complex texts.
