About Theresa
I believe that every student can be successful in mathematics. As a student, I did not get the highest grades in math classes. However, what I learned was how to work hard, to study efficiently, and determination. I am very curious and ask lots of questions. Communication is key to understanding mathematics, so I spend a lot of time developing vocabulary and concise understanding of technical vocabulary so that students can not only do mathematics, but speak mathematics.
Because I have to work hard to get good grades, I learned how to create valuable strategies to help me understand. I have taught these to my students for decades. I also believe in using a sequential or algorithmic thinking process whenever possible. This helps you focus on the concept and apply it to problems or questions that may be nontraditional.
Lastly, I have a pleasant demeanor and a jovial spirit. I love to laugh and and patient and kind. I love to see the "lightbulb" go off in my student's minds as they gain understanding. This gives me encouragement to keep at what I do to help students to understand mathematics better.

I believe in using multiple methods to securing understanding. I want to help you see connections between processes and encourage a step-by-step approach to learning. What sets me apart is my knowledge of the entire sequence of math courses from Pre-Algebra to Calculus. Additionally, I like to give helpful and fun memory aids to help you understand. I thrive on applying mathematics to the world around us to help you see how and where you use the mathematics in the real world.
