About Adrienne
I am a very experienced year 5/6 teacher, teaching across the curriculum but with specialisms in English and Maths. I have been a Consultant Leading Teacher for Mathematics with Dorset County Council Education Department for over 10 years. I prepare for all lessons meticulousy and am looking forward, now that I have retired from teaching at school, to helping more students prepare for tests like the 11+. Teaching is my love and watching students growing in confidence as they learn to see the progress they are making. Self confidence allows all students to reach their full potential.

I look at where the gaps are for individuals or groups and ensure that I plan for their personal needs and to allow them to make good progress and gain in confidence over a period of time. It is important to gauge the learning style of each individual and assess progress after each session, deciding what the next steps should be.
I believe teaching should incorporate as many real life problems in Maths as possible. I have found over the years, that giving children a reason to see that a subject is going to help them through life makes them see the value of learning it.
Following the introduction of the 2014 curriculum, the expectations for writing and SPaG became much higher. I have always tried to maintain a balance between knowledge and creativity. Both are essential for the future of our young people as they prepare to enter the world of work.
