About Tia
I have spent fourteen years helping more than 480 students navigate the rich landscape of mathematics from basic numeracy to advanced university topics. My academic credentials include a doctoral degree in pure mathematics and research experience in combinatorics and graph theory. I have taught in universities colleges and private settings giving me a comprehensive understanding of how students learn mathematics at different stages. My students have become software engineers data scientists actuaries and mathematics teachers. I am particularly skilled at helping students make the difficult transition from calculation-based mathematics to proof-based reasoning. I maintain an extensive collection of mathematical problems readings and resources that I tailor to each student's needs. Outside of teaching I participate in mathematics enrichment programs for talented youth and enjoy mathematical puzzles and games. I believe that mathematics is a universal language of pattern and structure and that learning to think mathematically is one of the most valuable investments a student can make. I bring patience expertise and genuine enthusiasm to every tutoring relationship.

My mathematics teaching spans the full spectrum from school-level foundations to university-level abstract mathematics with equal commitment and expertise. For discrete mathematics I teach students to think in terms of sets relations graphs and combinatorial arguments developing the logical precision essential for computer science and advanced mathematics. Linear algebra is taught through geometric intuition and concrete applications in computer graphics data science and physics before introducing abstract vector spaces. Probability theory is taught through simulation real-world risk analysis and connections to statistics and finance. I emphasize the development of mathematical maturity teaching students to read definitions carefully construct examples and counterexamples and write coherent proofs. My lessons are highly interactive with students actively working through problems while I provide guidance and feedback. I use technology including mathematical software and visualization tools to enhance understanding of abstract concepts. For examination preparation I teach students to manage time effectively present solutions clearly and recognize the deep structures that underlie seemingly different problems. I also offer enrichment for students interested in mathematics competitions and independent research projects.
