About Ethan

I'm a current Physics Tutor at Contour Education — Melbourne's premium tutoring provider — and I recently sat the VCE exams you're preparing for, scoring 47 in Physics (Top 1%) and an ATAR of 99.70 (Top 0.3% of Victoria). I'm now studying a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine at Monash University (2026–2030).
Beyond my VCE results, I've earned High Distinctions in the Science Talent Search (twice) and the Australian Mathematics Competition (three times), and a High Distinction in the Mathematical Olympiad — so strong analytical and scientific reasoning is something I've developed at a high level across many years.
What sets me apart is recency. I sat the exact exams you're facing, I know the marking schemes inside out, and I remember exactly what it felt like to be confused, overwhelmed, and under pressure. I'll meet you where you are.

About the lesson

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all tutoring. Every lesson is built around you — your current level, your learning style, and your specific goals.
In our first session, I run a short diagnostic to identify where you're losing marks and how you best absorb new information — whether that's through visuals, worked examples, or hands-on problem solving. From there, I build every lesson around what you actually need.
I teach physics visually. Every concept comes with colour-coded diagrams, annotated worked examples, and real-world analogies — forces, field lines, circuit diagrams, wave fronts — so the relationships between ideas become obvious rather than abstract. I connect every formula back to the underlying physics so you never blank on which equation to use or why.
Each lesson includes real past exam questions, mark-maximising techniques, and common mistake analysis so you avoid the traps that cost students marks every year. For students aiming at foundation-building, we focus on core concept mastery with guided practice. For students pushing into the 40s, we work through exam-style questions and dissect marking schemes. For students targeting 45+, we tackle the hardest questions in each topic alongside time management and exam strategy.
Sessions run for 2 hours (standard) or 3 hours (intensive, ideal for pre-exam prep). I'm available evenings and weekends, and between-session questions via message are always welcome at no extra charge.
