About Avi
Every child learns differently. A Year 4 struggling with times tables learns fundamentally differently to a Year 6 looking for acceleration. That's exactly how I approach each lesson - with flexibility. As a primary schooler who thought watching the leaves blow outside was more interesting than the teacher's voice, I believe finding what actually clicks for students is instrumental in academic success. That's why I approach lessons with empathy first and content second. Be it through visual aids, verbal communication or scenario-based discussion, I'm here to make sure your child isn't just surviving, but thriving through their studies.
I'm a high school student on a scholarship, completing Mathematical Methods 1/2 and Biology 1/2 as a VCE early entrant. I have 3 years of experience tutoring primary and lower secondary school students, and possess a current Working With Children Check. I'm a candidate for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program and among the top 10% of students in the country for mathematics. I understand and confidently navigate the systems, syllabi and curricula children must complete, as I am completing the VCE myself. As I am a swim coach for young children alongside my work as a tutor, I find immense joy in working with children, and I am passionate about supplementing students' holistic success.

To me, teaching isn't just explaining a concept to a child and making them memorize keywords. I believe that children succeed academically when they are supported by teachers who empathize with them and cater to their individual needs. I offer highly personalized lessons in all areas of mathematics, including: Arithmetic, Algebra, Measurement, Problem Solving, Graphing and Application of Knowledge. I approach teaching from the student's own perspective, because I know what it feels like to be misunderstood by tutors and be taught in a way that is simply unnatural to you.
I shape students to excel using their own methods of understanding; not yours, mine, or anyone else's.
I want to make sure students leave class feeling confident and empowered in their studies. I offer simple explanations for complicated concepts, personalized programs based on syllabus, scholarship tips, and general feedback for time management, exam nerves and comprehension of problems; all through a highly flexible and adaptable program structure.
Each lesson is around 45 minutes to 1 hour long, and I cater to primary school students (Prep to Year 6 level). Whether your child is struggling with the basics or looking to accelerate through the Victorian Curriculum, there's always a place for them with me.
