About Sarah
Much of my background has been shaped by learning how to translate complexity into clarity. As a South Asian student at Vanderbilt, I often moved between academic, cultural, and institutional spaces that spoke very different languages. That experience pushed me to become precise about words, tone, and framing, and to pay close attention to how ideas are received, not just how they’re intended.
I spent much of college working in environments where clear writing and judgment mattered. As a writer, I learned how to turn complex issues into narratives that were accurate, engaging, and accessible to a broad audience. Writing for a live readership sharpened my sense of structure, voice, and accountability, which are skills that now directly inform how I approach application essays.
I also worked in policy, legal, and research settings where writing served a different purpose: persuasion, analysis, and decision-making. As a Religious Accommodations Policy Liaison, I led policy research and communicated findings to university administrators. At Vanderbilt Law School, I partnered with faculty to analyze academic programs and synthesize large amounts of information into actionable insights. In a research lab studying cognitive bias, I examined how easily narratives can mislead, and how careful framing can counter that.
Outside formal roles, my leadership in student organizations and community initiatives further shaped how I think about voice and representation. Advising student boards, coordinating service efforts, and participating in dialogue-based programs taught me how to listen closely, ask better questions, and help others articulate work they often undervalue.
I bring this background into my work with students. I’m attentive, thoughtful, and deeply invested in helping students communicate with clarity and integrity. I understand how strong work can get lost in vague language or over-polished performance, and I focus on helping students present writing that feels grounded, intentional, and true to how they think. I work best with students who want individualized guidance and who care about saying something real and saying it well.

My approach as a tutor comes from having personally navigated competitive admissions and then guiding students through the same high-stakes process. I don’t use templates or chase “perfect” essays. Instead, I help students uncover what genuinely matters to them and communicate it with clarity, intention, and honesty.
A typical lesson starts with a real conversation about the student’s goals and what feels most challenging, whether that’s finding a topic, shaping a narrative, or refining tone. From there, we work directly with the essay, breaking it apart and rebuilding it thoughtfully. I revise alongside students, explaining each decision so they leave not only with a stronger draft, but with a clear understanding of how to revise on their own.
What sets me apart is my emphasis on how admissions readers actually evaluate writing. I teach students how strong essays are read, weighed, and remembered. My lessons are designed for high school, college, transfer, and graduate applicants who want individualized, strategic guidance rather than one-size-fits-all advice.
