About Sophia

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged. As a biomedical engineering graduate, I understand the challenges of balancing difficult courses, deadlines, and personal well-being. My goal as a tutor is to create a positive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and working through challenging material.

Outside of academics, I am a fun, outgoing, and curious person who loves hiking, traveling, and exploring new places. I also believe that taking study breaks and looking after your mental health are important parts of being a successful student. I try to bring this balanced, approachable mindset into my tutoring by helping students build confidence, reduce stress, and develop study habits that actually work for them.

I am professional, reliable, and patient, but I also want lessons to feel relaxed and encouraging. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them feel more capable and confident in themselves.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is to make math and science feel clear, approachable, and less overwhelming. I focus on breaking down difficult concepts step by step and helping students understand the reasoning behind each problem, not just memorize formulas.

A typical lesson starts by reviewing what the student is working on, identifying areas of confusion, explaining the key concepts, and then working through practice problems together. I like to use real-world examples whenever possible to make the material easier to understand.

What sets me apart is my background as a biomedical engineering graduate. I know what it is like to be in a demanding interdisciplinary program and understand the challenges of technical courses. Therefore, I hope to bring a patient, practical, and encouraging teaching style.

My lessons are best suited for high school and university students looking for support in math, science, physics, biology, chemistry, introductory engineering courses, homework, exam preparation, and study strategies.
