About Valerio

I am a trumpet player and educator specialized in both jazz and classical music, currently based in Boston. I am a full scholarship student at Berklee College of Music, enrolled in the Global Jazz Institute, where I am developing my artistic voice in an international and highly creative environment.
My musical path began in the classical tradition, earning a diploma in classical trumpet in Italy, and later expanded deeply into jazz through advanced studies at Siena Jazz Academy, where I completed both Bachelor and Master-level training in jazz performance. This dual background allows me to combine solid technical discipline with improvisation, creativity, and modern musical language.
Over the years, I have studied and performed with internationally respected musicians such as Avishai Cohen, Alex Sipiagin, Ralph Alessi, Fulvio Sigurtà, Miguel Zenón.
These experiences strongly shaped my approach to sound, phrasing, and personal expression.
I have performed in international festivals, jazz clubs, and major venues across Europe and the United States, including New York and Boston, working in orchestras, ensembles, and contemporary projects, performed in Boston with musicians such as Kenny Werner and Kevin Harris, bringing high-level artistic collaboration into my professional experience.
I am part of the Italian ensemble NewStrikers, with whom I recorded the album Musiche Insane, a project that received international recognition and was selected among the most significant jazz releases by critics. This experience reflects my strong connection to original music and contemporary creative projects.
Teaching is a central part of my artistic life. I currently work as a trumpet instructor in Boston, guiding students of different ages and levels.
In my lessons, I focus not only on technique, but on helping each student develop confidence, musical awareness, and a personal sound. I believe music education should build independence, creativity, and the ability to truly communicate through the instrument.

My goal as a teacher is to give students the tools to grow technically and musically, while also helping them discover their own artistic identity — whether they are just starting the trumpet or preparing for advanced studies and professional paths.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Valerio, a professional trumpet player and full scholarship student at Berklee College of Music (Global Jazz Institute), with a strong background in both jazz and classical performance.
I help students develop a solid technical foundation, controlled sound, confidence on the instrument, and a strong sense of musicianship. My goal is not only to improve your playing, but to help you build your own musical identity.

In the classical path, I work with established technical methods such as Arban, Clarke, flexibility studies, and orchestral repertoire, focusing on sound, control, articulation, and endurance.
For jazz students, I guide you into improvisation through language-based learning, starting from transcriptions directly from recordings to understand idiomatic phrasing and style. We work on the language of masters like Louis Armstrong, Roy Eldridge, and other foundational figures, gradually connecting this tradition to modern jazz vocabulary.

I bring real performance experience from international festivals and stages into every lesson, helping you connect technique to real musical situations.

My lessons are open to all ages and levels and ALL THE INSTRUMENTS ! — from complete beginners who are starting the instrument for the first time, to intermediate students, to advanced players preparing for auditions, music school, or professional development.
