Teaching Method and Techniques:
I use a patient, step-by-step approach, ensuring students fully understand each concept before moving on. I focus on breaking down difficult problems into simple, manageable steps and use real-life examples to make math more relatable and less intimidating. My method also includes regular practice and review, helping students build confidence through repetition and mastery. For AP Statistics, I emphasize interpreting data and understanding key concepts, rather than just memorizing formulas.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Review (5-10 mins): Start with a recap of the previous lesson and address any homework or lingering questions.
New Concept Introduction (10-15 mins): Introduce the new topic with clear explanations and examples, using visuals when necessary to illustrate complex ideas.
Guided Practice (20-25 mins): Work through example problems together, encouraging the student to take the lead as their understanding grows.
Discussion and Clarification (5-10 mins): Ensure all concepts are understood by answering questions and revisiting difficult parts if needed.
Practice Assignment (5-10 mins): Assign practice problems to reinforce what was learned and set objectives for the next session.
What Sets Me Apart:
I understand the frustrations students face when struggling with math, and I bring patience and empathy to every session. As a former high school valedictorian, I’ve mastered the skills and strategies necessary to excel academically, and I use that experience to guide my students. I also emphasize building a strong foundation in problem-solving, critical thinking, and confidence, which allows my students to succeed not only in math but in other subjects as well. My ability to explain complex topics in a simple, relatable way helps students move from frustration to understanding.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students who are struggling with math concepts, including algebra, geometry, and calculus, or who need extra support in AP Statistics. I focus on students who feel overwhelmed or discouraged by math and help them gain the skills and confidence to improve their grades and understanding. I’m particularly focused on helping those who want to excel in their AP Statistics course, ensuring they are fully prepared for both coursework and exams.
