*ABOUT ME*
Hi! I'm Shaurjesh, a student at the University of Sydney pursuing a Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Medicine. I achieved 5 A* grades in CIE A-Levels, equivalent to a 99.95 ATAR, as well as in IGCSE.
I'm a recipient of the University of Sydney Chancellor's Award for academic excellence. I also earned NZQA Scholarship Awards in Chemistry and English (2025) and Calculus (2024), and consistently ranked among the top students in my cohort throughout IGCSE and A-Levels.
*Why I Teach*
I'm passionate about tutoring because I know firsthand how transformative the right guidance can be. During my own academic journey, I experienced the difference that personalized support makes, not just in achieving grades, but in truly understanding the material and building confidence.
There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing a concept "click" for a student, or watching someone struggling with a topic begin to tackle exam questions with more confidence. I love breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and helping students realize they're capable of more than they thought.
In university, I'm constantly drawing on the strong foundations I built in sciences and math during IGCSE and A-Levels. I want to help other students build those same foundations, not just to excel in exams, but to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them well beyond school.

*Teaching Methodology*
My approach centers on building both confidence and deep conceptual understanding. Having recently completed these curricula myself, I bring up-to-date insights into what examiners are looking for and the most effective exam techniques.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, whether that's:
- Understanding core content through clear explanations and worked examples
- Strengthening exam technique with strategic approaches to different question types
- Targeted practice on weak areas or challenging topics
- Assignment support and feedback on written responses
I provide comprehensive resources including topic-based question banks, past papers, and exemplar responses so you can see what high-quality answers look like in practice. I believe that reinforcing theoretical knowledge through structured practice is paramount to succeeding in exams.
*Lesson Structure*
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted based on your preferences and learning needs. Sessions are interactive and focused, with time allocated to:
- Reviewing previous content and addressing questions
- Teaching new material with clear, step-by-step explanations
- Guided practice and problem-solving together
- Setting targeted homework to consolidate learning
