About Kim
Hi, I'm Kim! I’m currently a Mathematics and Computer Science student at the University of Auckland. When I’m not studying, you’ll find me at the gym or watching Basketball and Formula 1. I am quite into cars and my dream car is the Aston Martin Vantage. I also enjoy cooking, if I were to make one dish in a cooking competition it would be Hainanese chicken rice.

My Tutoring Approach
My teaching philosophy for Mathematics and Computer Science is built on mastering foundational principles. Rather than rote memorization, I focus on helping students understand the "why" behind the logic. This deep conceptual clarity allows students to adapt and solve unfamiliar problems with confidence, a skill that is essential for both high-level coding and advanced calculus.
Lesson Structure
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are structured to maximize active learning:
The First 20 Minutes: We dive into a specific concept or theory, breaking down the complexities into digestible, visual explanations.
The Final 40 Minutes: We shift to intensive application. This involves hands-on problem solving and live coding, ensuring the student can independently apply the theory we just covered.
Qualifications and Experience
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland, double-majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. I maintain a high academic standard with a current GPA of 8.25 (A/A+ average). This academic rigor ensures I am well-versed in the most current methodologies and can provide the high-level insights needed for top-tier results.
Target Students
My lessons are specifically designed for:
NCEA Levels 1, 2, and 3: Helping students excel in external examinations and internal assessments.
First-Year University Students: Supporting those transitioning into undergraduate Math or CS papers who need to bridge the gap between high school and university-level logic.
