About Jesse
Hi, I'm Jesse!
Despite having achieved fairly well during my schooling, I’ve always hesitated to call myself a good student. Rather, I’ve preferred to class myself as a good "learner". This distinction is something quite important to me – and something reflected in what I hope to do with my teaching.
I hope to provide you with genuine self-rooted understanding from which you can intuitively draw from to solve problems, rather than shallow rote-learned methods to pass exam questions. This way, I believe you’ll be much more likely to retain what you learn beyond those exam dates – and sometimes even to begin seeing how the concepts manifest in your daily life!
I know that learning can sometimes be both stressful and challenging, especially when there are stakes attached, but that’s where I hope to help you. I’m here to work with you in making progress towards your academic goals, all while finding joy in the process of learning itself – something you can take far beyond our lessons.

I tutor students from Year 9-13 in Maths/Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry (L2/L3 only), each of which I have achieved NZQA Scholarship in, passed with excellence endorsement, and have tutoring experience for. Each lesson will be tailored to the student’s needs, whether that be in covering a challenging topic, preparing for an upcoming exam, or reinforcing knowledge in content covered in class.
I strive as a tutor to provide a space for my students where they are completely comfortable and open in discussing the difficulties they are facing, and asking questions whenever they do not feel entirely sure on a topic. I hope to facilitate a two-way conversation, where the student can give me real-time feedback on my explanations and how I can help them better.
