About Emily
Hi there! I'm Emily, an Elementary and Special Education major with a heart of gold for watching kids succeed—on the books and off. I'm a pro at creating a cozy, gentle, and engaging learning space where all students feel safe and supported. We may be cracking tricky math puzzles, building stronger reading habits, or merely learning to learn—either case, I'll be waiting to meet each student where they are and help them develop from there. I offer organization, guidance, and creativity with every session and yes, sometimes even a little Bluey-inspired fun when it fits! In addition to tutoring, I'm also a big swimming fan (it keeps me on my toes and in high energy mode!), a passionate pickle aficionado (yes, I'm a fan of having them as a snack too!), and cuddling up watching a fantastic Bluey episode. These little idiosyncrasies keep me centered and remind me why learning matters is all about the journey. I like to personalize my teaching method and techniques to whatever will help the student learn best. A typical lesson plan is developed before the tutoring session based on what the student needs to work on that session. I be sure to include different plans within one plan as sometimes one plan does not always work best for a student. I can be set apart from other tutors because I really think it's important to get to know a student's personality and things about them so that it makes for a better learning environment. I have experience working with students ages 3-13 in English and Math with some pre-algebra and pre-calculus work sprinkled in.
