I bring over a decade of university teaching experience to every session, alongside a Ph.D and an MFA that reflect deep training in both rigorous scholarship and creative practice. My academic background spans the humanities broadly, giving me a wide-ranging fluency across disciplines, theoretical frameworks, and writing conventions — so whatever field you're working in, I can meet your material with genuine expertise rather than generic advice.
Beyond the classroom, I've spent years working as a personal coach, which shapes how I approach every session: with patience, attentiveness, and a genuine investment in your growth, not just your grade or deadline. With a PhD in Africana Studies and an MFA, plus years of experience as an educator and academic researcher, I understand both the rigor academic writing demands and the clarity it often lacks. My approach centers on three things:
1) Editing that respects your voice. I don't just fix grammar — I sharpen your sentences so they say exactly what you mean, tightening prose without flattening your intellectual style.
2) Structural feedback that strengthens your argument. Many strong ideas get lost in weak organization. I help you identify where your argument is buried, redundant, or out of order, and work with you to restructure so your logic flows clearly from claim to evidence to conclusion.
3) Translating complexity into clarity. If you know your ideas are strong but struggle to get them onto the page in a way that reads smoothly, this is where I help most.
