About Mohd Fahmi

My name is Dr. Mohd Fahmi, and I am a lecturer at Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya. I have been teaching Physics at foundation and pre-university level, working closely with students from diverse academic backgrounds and learning abilities. I teach because I truly believe that Physics can be understood by anyone when it is explained clearly and patiently. Over the years, I have met many students who felt intimidated by Physics or believed they were “not good at it.” My goal is to change that mindset by helping students understand concepts meaningfully rather than memorizing formulas blindly. I am passionate about student-centered learning and focus on building strong fundamentals, logical thinking, and confidence. In my classes, I break down complex ideas into simple steps, use relatable examples, and guide students through problem-solving until they feel comfortable applying the concepts independently. I also understand the pressure students face in exam-oriented systems and large lecture environments. That is why I strive to create a supportive, respectful, and judgment-free learning space, where students are encouraged to ask questions and learn at their own pace. For me, teaching is more than delivering content—it is about guiding, motivating, and empowering students to believe in their own ability to learn and succeed. I am committed to helping my students grow academically and develop confidence that will benefit them beyond the classroom.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring focuses on deep understanding, clarity, and student confidence, not rote memorisation. I believe Physics becomes much easier when students truly understand why formulas work, not just how to use them.
I use a step-by-step teaching method, starting from basic concepts and gradually moving to exam-level questions. Lessons are highly structured and interactive. I frequently use real-life examples, diagrams, and guided problem-solving to help students visualise abstract concepts. For exam preparation, I emphasise exam techniques, common mistakes, and marking schemes, so students know exactly how to score.
I adapt my teaching style based on each student’s level and learning pace. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely, and I regularly check understanding through short concept checks and practice questions.
