About Camila

I grew up in Lima, Peru, where Spanish was the language of everything: school, family, food, music, and the city itself. Moving to the UK at eighteen gave me a second perspective on language learning, and that experience of navigating a new culture through a new language is something I bring into every lesson I teach.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in International Education from the University of Manchester and am currently completing my PGCE at the University of Oxford, specialising in Spanish and French. I am on track to receive Qualified Teacher Status in July 2026. I have taught in London-area secondary schools across all year groups, from Year 7 through to A-Level, and I have worked with students of very different abilities, learning styles and starting points.
Languages have always been more than an academic subject to me. I read contemporary Latin American literature, I follow the politics and culture of the region, and I care about the stories and histories that live inside a language. That passion comes through in lessons, and students notice it.
Outside the classroom I am interested in food, particularly the fusion and creativity of Lima's culinary scene, surf culture, and the kind of travel that takes you somewhere genuinely unfamiliar. I am warm, patient and direct, and I take every student's progress seriously.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured around what each student actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all plan. Before we start, I take time to understand where you are, what the exam demands, and what is holding you back, then I build from there.
Sessions are taught predominantly in the target language, which builds real fluency and confidence alongside exam technique. I design my own resources rather than relying on generic worksheets, and I draw on my background as a native Spanish speaker from Lima, Peru, to bring authentic cultural depth to the language, something you simply cannot get from a textbook.
For GCSE students, I focus on closing gaps, building accuracy, and making sure the four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are exam-ready. For A-Level, lessons go deeper: essay planning and translation technique, oral exam preparation, and genuine engagement with the cultural and literary themes that examiners want to see.
I keep lessons active and student-led. You will be speaking, responding and producing language from the very first session, not just listening to me explain things. I use mini tasks, structured speaking practice and regular low-stakes checks so you can see your own progress.
