About Farwa
Hi, my name is Farwa Khan, I'm a University of Melbourne student who loves teaching science and maths subjects. I want my students to not only understand the subject being taught, but to develop a passion for it and a confidence in their personal ability to excel.

My Methodology:
I focus on building a strong foundation in core concepts before moving on to more complex topics. I use real-life examples and relatable scenarios to make abstract ideas more concrete, which I find is especially important for learning maths and sciences at a young age.
I also believe that practice is key to mastering any subject. I have access to many VCE, IB and NCEA databases of past exam questions for practice, which will be followed by constructive feedback to help students improve continually.
I encourage active participation through problem-solving, discussions, and asking questions. I use visual aids, such as diagrams and videos, to help students visualize complex concepts, especially in science subjects.
I adapt my teaching style to match the individual needs of each student. Whether a student needs to master the basics or is looking to excel in advanced topics, I customize my lessons accordingly. Thus, students are never discouraged or put off by the subject due to finding it difficult.
My lessons typically run for 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted based on the student’s needs and attention span. For younger students, I might break up the lesson into shorter segments to keep them engaged.
Qualifications:
I am currently pursuing my studies at the University of Melbourne doing an honors degree in the Bachelor of Science, where I am continuing to deepen my knowledge in both mathematics and science. I achieved excellent grades in high school, particularly in these subjects, which I am passionate about teaching.
My experience includes volunteering as a tutor, where I have helped students of various ages (8-18) improve their understanding and performance in maths and science. This experience has honed my ability to explain complex topics in a way that is accessible and engaging for students.
Target Audience:
My lessons are designed for students aged 8-18, ranging from primary to high school levels. I am equipped to help students who are struggling with the basics as well as those who aim to excel in advanced topics or prepare for exams.
