About Jacob
During the last year I have had six students, primarily helping with maths at A-Level and GCSE levels, however I have also had a few students from a Spanish speaking background to whom I have taught English as a foreign language. My tutoring roles have been primarily one to one tuition, aiding in revision but also help in approaching complex mathematical problems. Many of them have gone on to achieve good GCSE and A-Level results.

I am aware that students use tutors for a variety of reasons, for some it is a matter of guidance through complex situations where the tutor provides a source of confidence, but for others they require the complete re- teaching of subjects, thus as a tutor I believe it best to adapt to individual student needs. With regards to complete re-teaching of subjects, pupils often fail to understand some of the more complex topics due to the narrow frame of the school curriculum that favours their ability to answer exam questions over true understanding, utilizing my university mathematics education I will seek to broaden their understanding of topics and give them relevance in the bigger picture that will in turn make the topics within the curriculum seem much more manageable.
