My approach to tutoring is student-centred, supportive and focuses on building rapport, confidence and understanding. As a medical student at the University of Leeds, I understand the challenges of getting through the interview stage in medical school interviews and mastering complex scientific biological concepts. Therefore, I aim to provide clear structured tutoring sessions, which will be manageable for my students and easy to follow.
In my lessons, I use a combination of active recall, exam-style questions and real-life examples to help students understand and retain the information. I will tailor each session to the individual's needs, whether that includes strengthening weak areas or improving exam technique.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged if needed. Each session is structured to include a quick review of previous material, focused teaching of key concepts, and practice questions to consolidate learning.
As a tutor, I bring strong academic foundations in Biology, alongside my current medical training, which allows me to provide deeper insight into the subjects. I have experience explaining complex ideas in simple ways and working collaboratively with others, ensuring lessons are both effective and engaging.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level pre-medical students, typically aged 14–18, who are looking to improve their understanding, achieve higher grades, or prepare confidently for exams.
I aim to help every student, like Nicole, not only improve academically but also develop confidence and independence in their learning.
