About Steven
I have a PhD in English Literature from the University of Melbourne and have worked there as a lecturer, tutor and subject coordinator for a number of years, having taught hundreds of students in the process. I love doing this - helping students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of some great works of literature is hugely satisfying for me and also a whole lot of fun!

In my experience, the best way to approach the study of literature is through "close reading" of the text, combined with knowledge of the historical and cultural context in which it was written, and the life experiences of the author. My tuition uses these three aspects to encourage a fuller appreciation of the text being studied.
